Longtime collaborator Stanley Nelson announced this on Thursday afternoon. Erskine was an Emmy winning editor for his work on Freedom Riders. Some of his other works include The Black Press: Soldiers Without Swords, The Murder of Emmitt Till, Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool.
