The Gold Standard Arts Festival will be taking place April 24 - May 1 at locations throughout the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The festival celebrates emerging and established film, theater and comedy artists that are 50+. The festival program includes feature films, documentaries, short films, a night of ten-minute plays, and a comedy night hosted by Judy Gold. There's also a ticketed jazz brunch at Stand Up NY with catering by Zabars as well as parties and panels.
On April 28th, The Last Laugh will screen at New Plaza Cinema (263 West 86th Street) at 7pm. The film dares to ask: "Are we allowed to joke about the Holocaust?" Critical thinkers Mel Brooks, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gottfried and others offer their perspective and insights in the film.
Following the screening, Director Ferne Pearlstein and Comedian Judy Gold will participate in conversation with Montclair Film Festival Artistic Director Tom Hall.
