Moonlight & Movies is a film series presented at the Museum of the City of New York this summer.
On Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 7p.m., the museum is presenting a screening of DESK SET, a 1957 classic rom-com with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in the lead roles. There will be a Midcentury Modern Happy Hour featuring live Jazz.
Join the event goers for an outdoor screening of Desk Set (Walter Lang, 1957). Hepburn and Tracy play a research librarian at a New York television network and a visiting computer expert, respectively. They clash when Tracy tries to convert Hepburn's network to computers and to replace Hepburn and her brainy, all-female research team with "Miss Emmy," a giant computer. But, wouldn't you know it, as the sparks fly, a romance blossoms. The film will be introduced by MCNY's Lilly Tuttle, curator of our new exhibition, Analog City: NYC B.C. (Before Computers), and anthropologist Shannon Mattern.
