The Films of Kenneth Anger with Live Accompaniment will be an exploration of sound, image, darkness and magic at Freddy's Bar and Backroom. The Flushing Remonstrance perform their original live accompaniment to the three films by Kenneth Anger (Lucifer Rising; Inaguration of the Pleasure Dome; Invocation of My Demon Brother).
Kenneth Anger is a 96 year old actor, author, short filmmaker who has been an influence on generations of filmmakers and music video productions. His themes of homoeroticism, Thelema, occult and magic can be seen in his film work.
The Flushing Remonstrance are a duo of Catherine Cramer (percussion, electronics) and Robert Kennedy (keyboards, electronics, voice). The two compose and perform their own scores to films and screen the films with their own live accompaniment.
Freddy's Bar is located at 627 5th Avenue in Brooklyn. Doors open at 7:30p.m. for the Friday, April 7th experience. The show starts at 8p.m. with a suggested donation of $10 (at the door).
