The 14th Annual Athena Film Festival (AFF) will be back in 2024. Narratives, documentaries, and short films all featuring women leaders at the heart of the stories. The festival will run February 29 - March 3, 2024 at the Barnard College campus. A joint project of Barnard College's Athena Center for Leadership and Women and Hollywood, it is a festival dedicated to elevating women's leadership and advancing inclusion on screen. Creative Development programs also advance a pipeline of talent working on women-centered projects year round.

The New York Premiere of COPA 71 will be the opening night film. This documentary explores soccer teams from England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Denmark and Italy that gathered in Mexico City's Azteca Stadium in August of 1971. The players are all women and its scale was monumental in lavish sponsorships, extensive TV coverage, merchandise selling on every street corner and 100,000 roaring fans in the stadium. Tickets to the opening night screening of COPA 71 include access to the opening night party.

The Persian Version is the festival's closing night feature film. Winner of both the Audience Award and Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, the film delivers a universal and timely story of the Iranian and Iranian-American experience. The closing night film will take place March 3, 2024 at 7pm at The Event Oval.
