The Nitehawk Shorts Festival is this week. This festival has been running since 2013 at Nitehawk Cinema in their original Williamsburg location and in recent years, the newer Prospect Park location as well.
The festival opens Wednesday evening at their Prospect Park theater followed by two sessions on Thursday at the Williamsburg theater. There's a break for Friday. The shorts continue with screenings at both locations on Saturday and then the festival finishes up in Prospect Park on Sunday.
Most of the films are by local New York filmmakers, so expect most of the screenings to sell out. Online streaming distributor NoBudge has a program hosted by its founder Kentucker Audley on Sunday morning.
The opening nite kicks off with the screening and is followed by a party in the Trees Lounge Bar. The awards ceremony is closing nite at the Trees Lounge again at Prospect Park. Awards will be announced for jury winners, audience choice awards and more.
