Doc Fortnight starts tonight at the Museum of Modern Art. Doc Fortnight is now in its 24th year of celebrating documentary cinema.
The festival opens with the world premiere of Stanley Nelson's latest work We Want the Funk! in which Nelson explores the history of the funk music genre. The film includes performances by James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, Labelle, and Fela Kuti. The screening starts at 7pm and will be followed by a conversation with Director Stanley Nelson and Producer Nicole London.
Doc Fortnight continues through March 7 with filmmakers in attendance for many of the comtemporary documentary screenings. You can check out the schedule and get tickets on the MoMA website -
