Following up a recent weeklong run at the other documentary devoted theater in the city (Firehouse Cinema), Emergent City is screening at Maysles this week.
Emergent City tells the story of Sunset Park and Industry City, the development along the neighborhood's waterfront, intersecting climate crisis, gentrification, and politics. The film is the creation of Jay Arthur Sterrenberg and Kelly Anderson, both of whom will be at screenings at the Maysles Documentary Center.
The screening take place Tuesday, July 8th with urban scholars Andy Battle, Wednesday, July 9th with Aurash Khawarzad, and Friday, July 11th with Mia Charlene White.
