By Kimberly Burke
Jane Raab was honored with a 2014 Made In NY Award at the Weylin B. Seymour Building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Monday, November 10th.
Native New Yorker Jane Raab was born and raised in Washington Heights. Raab began her career in film production under the tutelage of veteran Producer Edward Pressman as an assistant and also assisted Director Martin Best.
Before there were tweets and texts, Raab used the old school tools - telephone and typewriter to coordinate productions. Notable films she helped bring to the screen: Splash, Pope of Greenwich Village, Presumed Innocent, A Chorus Line, and Running on Empty. Raab served on the sitcom Spin City as Production Manager. Spin City was the first four camera sitcom filmed in New York since the 1950's. Jane Raab produced six seasons of New York-based Sex and the City. Additionally, she worked on Life on Mars, Cashmere Mafia, and How to Make It in America. Celebrating 100 episodes, Raab goes to work currently as Producer for New York-based CBS show Blue Bloods.
True to her Big Apple home, Raab is a Manhattan-based mom and wife who happens to make some of the biggest productions to come out of New York.
