By Kimberly Burke and Douglas Lorah
Continuing a 42 year strong tradition of honoring exceptional work in cinema, the Film Society of Lincoln Center will salute Robert Redford.
On Monday, April 27, Mr. Redford will receive the Chaplin Award at Alice Tully Hall. The award will be presented by fellow Chaplin Award recipient and two-time Academy Award winner Barbra Streisand. Also a two-time Academy Award winner and Chaplin Award recipient Jane Fonda will attend with John Turturro and J.C. Chandor.
Streisand worked with Redford in The Way We Were (1973). Fonda worked alongside Redford in Barefoot in the Park (1967). Turturro was directed by Redford in Quiz Show (1994) while Redford took direction from J.C. Chandor in All Is Lost (2013).
Billed as the Film Society's major fundraising event annually, the Chaplin Award Gala has honored numerous film icons including Bette Davis, Dustin Hoffman, Alfred Hitchcock, and Charlie Chaplin, the award's namesake.
