The MARVELS OF MEDIA FESTIVAL will take place March 26-28, 2026 at the Museum of the Moving Image. Currently the festival is gearing up by asking autistic media-makers to submit their creations. The festival aims to recognize outstanding media work of autistic media-makers.
For the first time this year, the festival was able to take a selection of the 2024 festival creators and showcase them to art centers and theaters across the country. At the 2026 festival, selected media-makers will be recognized through film screenings, an exhibition and in-depth panel discussions. Networking and workshop opportunities will also be a part of the festival.
What is a media-maker?
Media-makers are people who create moving image work and participate in the finished work as directors, writers, producers, cinematographers, editors, animators, game designers, sound designers, etc.
Acceptable media work for the festival includes:
· Film (Experimental, Narrative, Documentary)
· Animation
· Video Art / Single-channel Video
· Virtual Reality games & experiences
· Television Series / Web Series
· Playable video games
· Music video
Is there a minimum level of experience needed?
No. All autistic media-makers are welcome to apply.
Is the Marvels of Media Festival accepting international media works?
Yes, the Marvels of Media Festival is accepting international media works as well as media works made in the United States.
What year does a media work have to be completed to be eligible for submission?
A media work must have been completed between the years of 2023 – 2026 to be eligible for this year's festival.
When is the deadline?
The deadline to submit work is January 31, 2026 at 11:59PM EST.
When will I know if my media is selected for the festival?
Filmmakers will be emailed by March 6, 2026.
