The Lunar New Year is beginning February 7, 2026. Sesame Street Muppeteers featuring Alan Muraoka will help you to discover the traditions of Lunar New Year. This is only one of the activities you can participate in at the MET MUSEUM on the holiday.
Activities are scheduled with a kick-off Lunar New Year Lion Dance at 12pm. Throughout the schedule that runs till 5pm, you may build a portable drum, take a family photo, or Hold Your Horses by making a horse ornament to celebrate the year of the Horse. Dances, musical performances, storytelling, or taking time for quiet space in the museum galleries are all possible to experience.
