Harlem International Film Festival This Week (released Wednesday, September 14, 2016) By Kimberly Burke The Harlem International Film Festival will be held September 14-18, 2016. Celebrating their 11th anniversary, the festival is dubbed the original "filmmakers festival". The opening night will see a celebration of Prince and Purple Party. The closing night film is A New Color: The Art of Being Edythe Boone directed by Marlene "MO" Morris. Edythe Boone is a muralist, activist, and aunt to Eric Garner of Staten Island.
