The Bronx Doc Center is holding an event that includes a screening on Thursday, February 22. The name of the event is Portraying African American Fatherhood: Pops.
POPS also happens to be the name of the documentary web series by Garland McLaurin, who will have a selection of his work screened that night. His web series addresses modern parenthood issues for African American fathers. McLaurin is a Peabody-Award winning filmmaker who has had his work aired on PBS.
Along with the screening, there will be discussion about the topic with McLaurin and photographer Zun Lee, whose documentary photography covers the same range.
The Bronx Doc Center is located at 614 Courtlandt Avenue. Suggested donation for the event are $5 for Bronx residents, $10 for Gen Admin, and free for those 18 and under. Tickets are available at the door. You can read more about the event and RSVP here:
