Kathleen Turner Scheduled to Perform at The Met
(released
Tuesday, October 16, 2018)
By Kimberly Burke
The Metropolitan Opera audiences will see film and stage star Kathleen Turner as Duchess of Krakenthorp in Donizetti's comedy La Fille du Regiment. Turner's non-singing role is one that has been played by distinguished actresses in the past at the Met: Jane White (1983), Bea Arthur (1994), and Marian Seldes (2008). The Washington National Opera recently had Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the role.
Turner is scheduled to perform February 7 - March 2 at the Met. The matinee March 2nd performance at the Met will broadcast live in movie theaters worldwide at 1 pm Eastern. Check in with your local theater managers for ticket reservations.
Set in the picturesque mountain landscape of Tyrol, the Met production places the action during the First World War.
Note the soprano in Act I "Chacun le sait" and the tenor Act I "Ah! Yes Amis" with the nine high Cs challenging each production's performances.
