The Sparrow Tavern is hosting the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the fifth year. Come dressed to impress in your favorite Rocky Horror character Sunday, October 28, 2018. The Sparrow staff encourage you to arrive around 11pm to get into character and ready for the midnight screening. Sparrow staff will lead the bar in audience participation, but welcome leaders in attendance. The Sparrow Tavern is located at 24-01 29th Street in Astoria, Queens. The event is scheduled for 11:30 pm to 2:30 pm. You are welcome to bring props. Respect the venue and refrain from throwing things at the screen is a baseline of manners. The Queensborough Theatre Project in their one-of-a-kind homage to The Great Pumpkin will take the annual trip to the pumpkin patch on Sunday, October 21 for two shows, 4 pm and 8 pm. Show seating options for The Great Pumpkin Re-Animated range from table, bar and standing room tickets in the intimate performance setting of the Let Love Inn. Performances are for 21 and older only. The Bronx's Poe Park Visitor Center in Poe Park will screen short films with Halloween celebrating in mind. Three films and three directors will be present to answer your questions after the screenings. The 1960's Night of The Living Dead film will screen October 30 at the Grand Central Library, 6:30p.m. in a fully wheelchair accessible location. The classic Halloween zombie film runs 96 minutes. nypl.org
Chris and Colin's Excellent Halloween Movie-thon II at the Q.E.D. Astoria will open doors at 6 pm on October 31, when they turn into a grindhouse theater to present three of their horror favorites: Night of the Living Dead (1968) at 6:30, Evil Dead II (1987) at 8:15, and Halloween (1978) at 10:00. The School of Visual Arts (SVA) will screen a free and open to the public Halloween Night film Hocus Pocus to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie. RSVP is appreciated but not required.
