9th Annual Athena Film Festival

Athena Film Festival will run February 28 - March 3, 2019 at Barnard College, Columbia University. The weekend festival is curated to inspire with stories of women who are strong, bold, resilient, and have moxie. This is the ninth annual festival co-sponsored by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Women and Hollywood. The festival curates a public discourse on gender equality and changing the cultural conversations surrounding leadership.
Fast Color will open the festival and Knock Down the House will close the festival. Documentary centerpiece This is Personal and Narrative Centerpiece Out of Blue will be on the program of films.
"We are thrilled to announce our phenomenal lineup of films for this year's festival," said Melissa Silverstein, co-founder and artistic director of the festival and founder of Women and Hollywood. "The Athena Film Festival's goal is to showcase the diverse work of women leaders, and this year, we have some incredible films and stories that aim to change the narrative and highlight important topics."
The Athena Film Festival acknowledges leaders in the entertainment mediums for their contributions to encourage leadership with film and TV work. Previous years' have included guests Billie Jean King, Lena Dunham, JJ Abrams, Gloria Steinem, Paul Feig, Rosie O'Donnell, Bridget Everett and Sheila Nevins.
