Bushwick Film Festival Celebrating Space and Time
(released
Monday, August 12, 2019)
By Kimberly Burke
Bushwick Film Festival is coming this fall October 2-6, 2019. This 12th edition of the festival will be themed to coincide with NASA's sixty years of achievement and the 50th celebration of the Apollo moon landing. This year's theme is Celebrating Stories Through Space and Time. Bushwick Film Festival's new Creative Director Rah Crawford developed the theme. It is stories that make us dream, believe in the impossible and go beyond boundaries. Like space exploration is for learning about our universal surroundings, story telling helps us to understand ourselves and the people around us.
BFF received 1500 submissions from 60 countries. In a festival release, the BFF Founder and Director Kweighbaye Kotee said this with this year's theme in mind: "As a festival founder and independent filmmaker, I've come to learn that, in many ways, creating a film or launching a festival is in itself a moonshot - ambitious, exploratory, and undertaken with little expectation of profitability and without a full investigation of potential risks. That's why we celebrate filmmakers and the stories they go to great lengths to tell. Much like astronauts, filmmakers demonstrate courage, ability to collaborate, and the depths of their imaginations in ways that are inspiring."
The theme of space and time #Bushwick2019 wants to create and OUT OF THIS WORLD experience for festival attendees. Here are some upcoming dates to have in mind:
August 15, 2019 - Filmmakers will be notified of acceptance
September 15, 2019 - Festival pre-launch Party and Ticket sales open
October 2-6, 2019 - 12th annual Bushwick Film Festival
