Monday, November 4, 2019)
The Friars Club and The Vault Friars Club presented the New York premiere screening of The Primrose on Tuesday night October 29, 2019. The film was produced by Friar Mark "Jiggy" Jigarjian. Writer/director of the film Jon Kilmer joined producer Jigarjian on stage to introduce the film and also after the screening with some cast and crew for a Q&A.
The Friars Club walls are filled with the entertainment icons that came before this evening. The fraternal bond among Friars is strong and the setting perfect to project a modern day societal house depicted in the film.
This is the first feature film for both producer Jiggy and writer/director Kilmer. A dramatic comedy is Kilmer's description of the screenplay. The story is about recent graduate Steve who just ended things with his fiancé and finds out from his older brother that he is a legacy to a secret party society. The film was 100 percent crowdfunded states the filmmaking duo. A few clicks of the internet and it was funded by many on a 30 day Kickstarter campaign.
Producer Jiggy and Writer Director Kilmer utilized friends and family in their hometown of Boston to get production in the can. Mom and Dad's basement served as a location as did Jiggy's high school to create the campus scenes. Feeding cast and crew came thanks to local sponsorships from Pappa Gino's Pizza and D'Angelos Sandwiches.
The film is the story of navigating life, parties, people, and purpose in the transition to adulthood. The two camera shoot took place over 13 days. The message of the film is that you can take your time to find out who you are free from the time lines set out by society.
The Primrose is currently being shopped to film festivals and streaming services. Learn more about the origins of the film here in the link to the Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/339384135/the-primrose-a-comedy-film
