Free Screening of Julio from Jackson Heights

Director Richard Shpuntoff’s film "Julio from Jackson Heights" will screen complimentary on June 16, 2020 at 5PM. The 93 minute feature film is a portrait of 1950's-80's LGBTQ life in Queens, NY. Julio Rivera, a Bronx-born Puerto Rican sex worker was murdered in Jackson Heights on July 2, 1990.
The film reconstructs Julio's family and friends process to build a coalition for equality. Filmmaker Richard Shpuntoff was born and raised in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst. Shpuntoff served as the photographer for the Pride parade for its first 20 years.
