DA Pennebaker to Introduce Monterey Pop

Maysles Cinema Mondays at Nowadays is a free outdoor screening series held at Nowadays in Ridgewood, Queens.  It's a few blocks from the L Train Halsey stop on the edge of the cemetery.

On Monday, July 18th at sundown, Maysles Cinema will show the 1968 documentary Monterey Pop.  It will be introduced by the Director D.A. Pennebaker.  The doc covers the legendary Monterey International Pop Festival in June 1967 which included musical performances by Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Simon and Garfunkel, the Mamas and the Papas, the Who, and Ravi Shankar.  Some of the footage was shot by Albert and David Maysles.
