Ira Sachs Retrospective Showcase at MoMA

(released 7/17/2016)

New Yorker Ira Sachs may be half way into his filmmaking career with his latest feature Little Men.  The Museum of Modern Art is taking it that way.  They are hosting his mid-career retrospective called Thank You for Being Honest: The Films of Ira Sachs.

From July 22 through August 3, MoMA will showcase seven of Sachs' feature films and five shorts.  The retrospective will open with Forty Shades of Blue on Friday, July 22.  Sachs will participate in a discussion following the film which begins at 7:30pm.  All of the films will be screened twice through the showcase until the closing film Little Men on August 3.  Sachs will also be present for a post-screening discussion after the 7:30pm film.  The full schedule follows below.

His latest film Little Men premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and it recently opened the BAMcinemaFest in June back home in Brooklyn.  His feature Forty Shades of Blue won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.

Sachs wears many hats on his films by frequently being director, producer, and (co)writer.  Sachs is also known for curating the long running film series Queer/Art/Film out of IFC Center along with filmmaker Adam Baran.

The Museum of Modern Art is located at 11 West 53rd Street in Manhattan.  For more information about the Ira Sachs retrospective showcase, go to: www.moma.org.
