Panel on Alternative Film Financing at Anthology

The Black Documentary Collective is holding a panel discussion on Thursday, April 10th at Anthology Film Archives. The panel is called Alternative Film Financing. The diverse panel will include: nontraditional funders & production companies who disperse millions each year to filmmakers; broadcasters; international distributors; and independent filmmakers who tapped into Wall Street for funds.
The panelists include:
BRIAN NEWMAN: of Renew Media and Tribeca Film Institute, who is currently working with Amazon.com to distribute independent films. Renew Media funds $1 million to media artists annually through Media Arts Fellowships.
MARK WALTON: executive vice president, sponsorship and corporate development, The Africa Channel. Ambassador Andrew Young is a board member of The Africa Channel, the new 24/7 independent television network, which has reached an affiliation agreement with Comcast.
DRUNIA DUVIVIER: financial services affiliate consultant, project manager, real estate investor and Wall Street-funded documentary filmmaker. http://wallstreetblacks.com
DEXTER DAVIS: CEO of D Street Releasing, specializing in Foreign Film Distribution, with such marketing partners Volkswagen. He is also executive producer of European and North American Art House films.
ESTHER FRANKLIN: EVP/Director of Cultural Identities - SMG Multicultural. Elevated to EVP/Director of Cultural Identities in 2007, Esther "E.T." Franklin leads insights into
ethnic and existing/emerging identities for the multicultural unit of one of the largest brand communications groups in the world, Starcom MediaVest Group.
DANA OFFENBACH: (Hav Plenty, The Memsahib, Love & Orgasms), and President of Production, NEHST (pronounced Next) will introduce New York's newest production company. With a $250 million fund, NEHST is a content financing, development, production, and distribution company that integrates the most powerful trends in entertainment and technology today. Founded by industry veteran Larry Meistrich (Sling Blade, You Can Count on Me, Belly) of The Shooting Gallery and alternative distribution company Film Movement, NEHST is actively building a slate of theatrical films and other media, funding pictures in the 2 to 50 million dollar range.
