The 46th Chaplin Award Gala was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The tribute, which is hosted by Film at Lincoln Center, has now been rescheduled for Thursday, September 9th at Alice Tully Hall. The Chaplin Award Gala is their most important fundraising event of the year as all proceeds go directly to Film at Lincoln Center and its mission to support the art and craft of cinema.

The annual gala began in 1972 when it honored Charlie Chaplin who returned from exile to accept the commendation. Since his time, the Charlie Chaplin Award has been presented to many notable film industry talents including Alfred Hitchcock, Billie Wilder, Luarance Olivier, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorcese, Diane Keaton and Helen Mirren.
