"On Broadway" is a film by Oren Jacoby. Educated at Brown and Yale Universities, Jacoby has been an independent filmmaker since 1992. In 2005, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject, and in 2004, was awarded Best Documentary Short Film at Tribeca Film Festival. Oren Jacoby has also directed theater.

Jacoby interviewed legends of stage and screen including Hugh Jackman, Helen Mirren, Christine Baranski, James Corden, Alec Baldwin, August Wilson, John Lithgow, Viola Davis and Ian McKellen. Archival clips of performances by Lin Manuel Miranda, Patti Lupone, Bernadette Peters, James Earl Jones, and Mandy Patinkin are also included.

After 18 months with the lights down due to the pandemic, this contemporary history tells the inside story of the last time Broadway came back from the brink of collapse.

The film is currently screening at Quad Cinema and is opening at Cobble Hill Cinema and Kew Gardens Cinema this Friday, August 27, 2021.
