New York Film Festival 59 Now Thru October 10th

(released 9/26/2021)

Presented by Film at Lincoln Center, New York Film Festival 59 is taking place September 24-October 10, 2021.

They are featuring in-person screenings, as well as select outdoor and virtual events. Virtual screenings are not happening - as a response to distributor, filmmaker and audience return to theaters across the country. Proof of vaccinations are required for staff, filmmakers and audiences as well as face masks being required by current guidelines from the CDC.

The festival is partnering with local arthouse theaters to bring the festival to new audiences throughout the city.  The following venues are participating this year:

Anthology Film Archives (East Village)
BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music, Fort Greene, Brooklyn)
Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, Westchester)
Maysles Doceumentary Center (Harlem)

The festival will also present four outdoor screenings at Damrosch Park on the Lincoln Center campus.

In a press release, Director of NYFF Eugene Hernandez said, "Last year, we brought NYFF to drive-in screenings in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx, ensuring that New Yorkers could attend the 2020 festival safely. But taking the Festival to neighborhoods beyond the Upper West Side remains our goal and this year as we celebrate cinema in a communal setting and on the big screen, we're pleased to partner with four nonprofit cinemas. Thank you to our friends at Anthology, BAM, Maysles, and the Burns Film Center for working with us to connect the festival to new places and people! And of course, we're also delighted to present outdoor screenings in our own backyard at Lincoln Center's iconic Damrosch Park."
