Sony Pictures has been shooting a live-action, musical feature film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile based on the children's book by Bernard Waber. The story takes place on East 88th Street in New York City. The production is actually shooting on West 85th Street. To go along with the storyline, they have decorated the door with an 88.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is being directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. Starring in the film are Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men), Constance Wu (Fresh Off the Boat), and Winslow Fegley (Nightbooks). All three actors were seen on set today along with Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire). Last week, we also saw Ego Nwodim (Saturday Night Live) on set.
Here's some pics and video of one of the takes. In the video, you see Javier Bardem come out of a brownstone, recite a couple lines while walking down the stairs and he is followed by an actor in costume, which looks like it will be used for placement of an animated character (mocap or rotoscoping). Perhaps an alligator or a crocodile. At the bottom of the steps facing Bardem are Constance Wu and Winslow Fegley.
