For films that released earlier in the year, they can be forgotten by selection committees. To get back in their eyes, some films are hold special encore screenings for industry people.
This past Thursday, October 21st, Apple hosted a screening of Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry at the Whitby Hotel in Midtown. The film is distributed by Neon and available on Apple TV. This documentary takes an intimate look at the singer songwriter Billie Eilish, her musical collaborator and brother Finneas, and their parents. It shows them at home going through the creative process and recording to performing in small and medium size venues to hitting the big stage of Coachella and eventually taking home armloads of Grammys.
The screening was hosted locally by filmmakers Amir Bar-Lev and Dawn Porter. They introduced the film's creator R.J. Cutler. Cutler spoke after the film. Here are photos from the screening and a video of the Q&A.
