The Maysles Documentary Center is getting ready to host the Teen DocMakers Summer Showcase on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 7-8pm. You are invited to join the free screening in the cinema. The Maysles Documentary Center is located at 343 Malcolm X Boulevard, New York, 10027.
The Teen Doc Makers Lab (TDM) is an award winning, year-round, after school and summer intensive film program. Teens of high school age work in teams to make short documentaries. The curriculum is founded in the cinematic tradition of the Maysles brothers, direct cinema/cinema verite and encourages exploration of new approaches of filmmaking grounded in the innovative films/makers of today.
Working in the small groups, students are start-to-finish learning the process of filmmaking in the Makers Lab. They learn how to operate a camera, lights, audio equipment, and editing software. Curriculum also covers shot lists, storyboarding, shooting scripts, visual composition, directing and editing.
The TEEN Doc Makers projects set to screen in the showcase are still forthcoming. You can stay up to date by checking their website
