Grasshopper Film has expanded its Projectr streaming service, which launched two years ago. It now has content available for free through the New York Public Library. It is Projectr EDU and it's available to schools and other libraries as well.
The New York Public Library allows any New York State resident to obtain a digital library card. As a matter of fact, anyone that lives, works, attends school, or pays property taxes in New York State can get one.
So if you qualify for an NYPL library card, you can watch films being distributed by Grasshopper Film for free online.
Some of the films available are Keane (by Lodge Kerrigan and starring Damian Lewis), In the Soup (by Alexandre Rockwell and starring Steve Buscemi and Seymour Cassel), and award winning films like Ascension (by Jessica Kingdon - Best Doc @ Tribeca 2021). There are films from Jane Campion (A Girl's Own Story), Claire Denis (Towards Mathilde), Andrew Bujalski (Funny Ha Ha), and Bong Joon-ho (Influenza).
So dig out your library card or register for one and start watching some new and classic independent films for free. Below is a link to get started with Projectr EDU. And thanks Grasshopper Film.
