New York City is celebrating Fleet Week in honor of the upcoming Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 29th. Things kick off at the Intrepid Museum with a screening of TOP GUN (1986) on the flight deck on Friday, May 26th.
The annual free summer movie series features classic "ship" themed films. This year, the ship's 80th commissioning anniversary will be celebrated. Guests are invited to bring a lawn chair, picnic basket and blankets to view the film outdoors on a huge inflatable screen on the flight deck. Light concessions will be sold onsite.
Seating is limited and will be on a first come first serve basis. Doors open at 7p.m. The movie will screen at sunset. Doors will close at 9p.m. The film will have open captions. Current and former service members and their guests are invited to use the priority member line. No advanced registration is required.
