November is when film fans go deep on film noir for Noirvember. Films will screen, free popcorn will be served and a discussion will follow the screenings. This is free to attend and organized by Battery Park City Authority. The films will be from 6:30pm-8:30pm at 6 River Terrace on select Thursday nights in November. The following Thursday night films are planned:
NOV 2: The Set-Up (1949, Robert Wise)
Expecting the usual loss, a boxing manager takes bribes from a betting gangster without telling his aging fighter.
NOV 9: The Prowler (1951, Joseph Losey)
An unhappy cop is assigned to investigate the case of a prowler who stalks the home of a married woman, and soon becomes obsessed with her.
NOV16: Murder by Contract (1958, Irving Lerner)
In search of a high-paying job, Claude decides to forgo his life as a law-abiding citizen to become a contract killer faced with unexpected challenges.
