'I Am Not Your Negro' Screening & Talk

LM Live's New York on Film screening series returns with the award-winning 2016 documentary I Am Not Your Negro. The film is a profound exploration of race, power and American History through the lens of author and essayist James Baldwin. Professor Dagnawi Woubshet, an esteemed scholar, writer, and translator who focused on Baldwin and his career, will be in attendance and do a post screening talk back. The screening and talk back with the professor will take place on February 22, 2024 at the Alamo Draft House (28 Liberty Street) in Lower Manhattan.

Baldwin in his career broadly intersected African American, LGBTQIA and African Studies. The conversation will navigate through the film's compelling themes, dissecting the layers of Baldwin's insights and their implications for our contemporary understanding of race, equality and social justice.

The screening will take place from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. Tickets, which you can purchase here, are $5 and include popcorn and a beverage. All proceeds will be donated to Philabundance.
