On June 5, 2024, Joey Bada$$ attended the New York Music Month conference. Along with moderator Sophia Chang, Founder of Unlock Her Potential, Joey Bada$$ shared insight and his experiences regarding the "IMPORTANCE OF MENTORSHIP".
Joey Bada$$ is an East Coast American Rapper, Songwriter and Actor. He is also the Founder of ImpactMENtorship. Born Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, January 20, 1995, he was the first Caribbean family member to be born in the United States in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. He was raised in Bed-Stuy and attended Edward R. Murrow High School where he was originally enrolled in acting but transitioned to music studies in the 9th grade with a focus on rapping. At 17 years old, he and his Pro Era crew released his first mixtape "1999" which is now considered a classic of the genre.
As an actor his standout role on Mr. Robot led to multiple roles since. In 2019 expanding his acting career with the role of Inspectah Deck in HULU's WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA, as well as recurring appearances in BET sitcoms BOOMERANG and GROWN-ISH. In 2021, he starred in the 2021 Academy Award-winning Netflix short film TWO DISTANT STRANGERS playing protagonist Carter James. He will also appear as Unique in the upcoming STARZ original series POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN.
Joey Bada$$ is also credited on the soundtrack of 2015 sports film starring Sylvester Stallone CREED with the track "CHICKEN CURRY". A current one track released by the artist in 2024 is PASSPORTS AND SUITCASES.
