The MISSING FROM FIRE TRAIL ROAD World Premiere took place at Tribeca Festival on Saturday, June 8th at Village East by Angelika Theater. The feature film was a spotlight documentary. The story is about Mary Ellen Johnson Davis who has been missing since Thanksgiving 2022 from the Tulip Reservation. She is only one of hundreds of Native American women who continue to go missing in the U.S.
Director Sabrina Van Tassel investigates Mary Ellen's case and dozens of Native women speak up about the violence suffered and observed by them. Activist and indigenous leader Deborah Parker, Deb Haaland US Secretary of Interior and friends and family of Mary Ellen give insight about these underlooked cases and the need for action and attention to these investigations.
The film opens a broader dialogue about the violence and generational trauma in Native American communities. It also shows fallible laws and lack of investigation surrounding them. The film will screen one more time at Tribeca Festival on Saturday, June 15th at 11am at AMC 19th Street, East 6. You can find a link to tickets here:
