Catch the Latest Japanese Cinema - Japan Cuts 2024

(released 7/14/2024)

Japan Cuts started last week on the 10th, but it runs through July 21st, so there's still plenty of time to watch the latest in Japanese cinema.  They even have guests coming in from Japan for some of the screenings.

The showcase opened with Between the White Key and the Black Key with Director Masanori Tominaga present.  A sold out screening of Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic was tonight at 9pm.  There will be an encore screening on July 21.  This is the 70th anniversary year of Godzilla and if you haven't gotten enough Godzilla lately between Godzilla Minus One last year or this year's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, here's your chance for more.

Many of the screenings are sold out, but there are a few with seats left.  Check out these: Moving on July 19th with Actress Tomoko Tabata in-person for a Q&A, Ice Cream Fever on July 20th with Director Tetsuya Chihara in-person for a Q&A, Performing Kaoru's Funeral also on July 20th with Director Noriko Yuasa in-person for a Q&A, and The Making of a Japanese on July 21st with Director Ema Ryan Yamazaki in-person for Q&A.

Japan Cuts takes place at the Japan Society located at 333 East 47th Street in Manhattan. For the complete schedule, go to https://japansociety.org.
