New Plaza Cinema is having their second summertime fundraiser on Friday, August 16th. Gale A. Brewer has curated the 2015 film SUFFRAGETTE as the evening's topic of women's voting. The film stars Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter. These women were willing to fight for and possibly loose everything as they saw peaceful protesting was not working. They met violence with violence.
Gale A. Brewer is a politician, activist, and now movie host. Locally Gale Brewer represents the 6th Council District and chairs the Committee on Oversight and Investigations. Gale has previously represented the 6th District from 2002-2013. She also has served as Manhattan Borough President. She will be available after the screening for a Q & A to answer all your film questions, followed by a light food and drink reception. This reception will be a chance to mingle with your host Gale Brewer and other attendees.
Tickets are $30 and 20 of that goes directly to New Plaza Cinema. New Plaza Cinema Macauley Honors College is located at 35 West 67th Street, NY 10023.
