New York on Film: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow will screen at the Museum of the City of New York. The film stars Jude Law as the Sky Captain and reporter Polly Perkins is played by Gwyneth Paltrow. The two uncover the mystery of a giant robot that attacks and the disappearances of prominent scientists.
The film is set in an alternative New York City in the 1930's. The film has several detailed cityscapes and iconic buildings inspired by the 1930's architecture that is also featured in a new exhibit at the Museum, Art Deco City. Join them for this outdoor screening that includes a pre-screening discussion with the film's Production Designer and Art Director, Kevin Conran. Kevin's extensive role transcended traditional art direction; functioning as a one-man art department, he designed the film's sets, props, and vehicles, while earning the Saturn Award for Best Costume Design.
