Jodie Foster Highlights Athena Film Festival

(released 1/23/2015)

Jodie Foster is being honored with the Laura Ziskin Lifetime Achievement Award at the 5th annual Athena Film Festival.  Jodie has led a long and successful film and television career and she doesn't seem to be slowing down.

Jodie Foster started in commercials at the age of 3 and worked on numerous television shows in the 60's and 70's.  She drew critical acclaim early for her work in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Taxi Driver, both under the tutelage of director Martin Scorsese.

Foster won her first Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in 1988's The Accused.  She followed that up 3 years later with another Best Actress Academy Award playing Clarice in The Silence of the Lambs.

Foster's work as a director has included Little Man Tate, Home for the Holidays, and the upcoming Money Monster, in which she will direct Julia Roberts and George Clooney.  Jodie produced the movies Nell, Home for the Holidays, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, and she executive produced The Brave One.

Jodie will receive her award on Saturday, February 7th at the home of the Athena Film Festival, Barnard College.

The lifetime achievement award is named after the late Laura Ziskin, who was a producer credited with executive producing the 74th and 79th Academy Awards shows as well as the movies Pretty Woman and As Good as It Gets.  She also produced Murphy's Romance, No Way Out, What About Bob?, The Butler, and the megahit Spider-Man movies.

The Athena Film Festival, celebrating women and leadership, runs February 5-8, 2015 at Barnard College in Morningside Heights.
