Hertzfeldt World of Tomorrow opens Queens World FF

(released 3/3/2015)

Celebrating 5 years of bringing films from around the world, Queens World Film Festival is March 17-22, 2015. This year's festival will open with the animated comedy short "World of Tomorrow" and a few leaders of New York: Melinda Katz (Queens Borough President), Cynthia Lopez (New York City Film Commisioner), and Leon Ichaso (Spirit of Queens Honoree).

The doors will open at 7:30pm and curtain will be 8pm at the Museum of Moving Image for a sampling of nominated films, guests and World of Tomorrow, the 2015 Sundance Grand Jury Winner.

Don Hertzfeldt has twice been named Sundance Grand Jury winner for shorts, his work featured in the Simpsons opening sequence, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has made him a nominee.  World of Tomorrow focuses on a little girl's point of view.  Hertzfeldt recorded sessions conversing with his niece Winona.  With twenty years as an animation filmmaker who has his base in pen, paper, and camera, World of Tomorrow is his first 100% digital venture.
