53rd New York Film Festival Sept 25-Oct 11

New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center will be held September 25-October 11, 2015. The opening day September 25 will have free programming which is still to be announced. The opening night film, the world premiere of Robert Zemeckis' The Walk, has been moved to September 26, 2015 at Alice Tully Hall. The Pope is scheduled to arrive in the city on September 25, 2015. Moving the opening night film was done to consider the Pope's planned tour. This is the 53rd year of the festival.
Artist Laurie Anderson designed this year's festival poster. The centerpiece film is Steve Jobs written by Aaron Sorkin and Danny Boyle. Closing the festival is Don Cheadle's film Miles Ahead about musician Miles Davis, which has been picked up by Sony Pictures Classics.
