6th Annual DOC NYC Award Winners Announced

The 6th annual DOC NYC festival ran November 12-19 at the IFC Center, SVA Theatre, and the Bow Tie Chelsea Cinemas in New York. Over 200 films and events were showcased.
The winners were announced on the 19th. Awards were given in 5 categories: Viewfinders Competition (chosen for distinct visions), Metropolis Competition (exemplify the diverse stories of NYC), DOC NYC U Competition (best student work from NYU, Columbia, SVA, and NYFA), SundanceNow Doc Club Audience Award (audience voting), and the Shorts Competition (all shorts aside from DOC NYC U were eligible / winner qualifies for consideration for Academy Awards).
The winners are:
Viewfinders Competition: Motley's Law directed by Nicole Horanyi.
Metropolis Competition: Class Divide directed by Marc Levin
Shorts Competition: Co-winner: Pink Boy directed by Eric Rockey Co-winner: The Surrender directed by Stephen Maing
DOC NYC U Competition: Fairy Tales directed by Rongfei Guo (New York University)
SundanceNow Doc Club Audience Award: Left on Purpose directed by Justin Schein / co-directed by David Mehlman
