Jerry Seinfeld will begin a residency at the Beacon Theater on the Upper West Side on January 7th, 2016. The residence will be billed as "Jerry Seinfeld the Homestand."
The Beacon Theater and box office is located at: 2124 Broadway, New York, NY 10023. The Beacon Theater is owned and operated by Madison Square Garden Company. It is considered "the older sister" property to another MSG holding, Radio City Music Hall. Both theaters were the vision of Samuel "Roxy" Rothafel. The Beacon opened in 1929 and housed vaudeville shows, movies, musicals, drama and opera. In 1979, the venue was designated a national landmark and became listed on the National Register of Historical Places. In 2006, the Beacon joined the MSG family of entertainment venues which now include Radio City Music Hall, The Garden, The Forum, and the Chicago Theater.
David "Doc" O'Connor, President and CEO of the Madison Square Garden Company, said at a press conference announcing the comedian's residency, "We are committed as a company to bringing the very best in live sports and entertainment to fans and audiences around the country."
"On behalf of everyone at MSG, we welcome Jerry to the Beacon for the first residence of his career and what we know will be an incredible year of unforgettable comedy." said Jim Dolan, Executive Chairman of the Madison Square Garden Company.
Seinfeld is committed to 6 shows in the 2016 calendar year: January 7, February 18, March 2, April 14, May 5, and June 8.
