Art of Brooklyn Film Fest Highlights Boro

(released 6/9/2016)

The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival had a free film screening at Sunset Park on Saturday, June 4th, but it really kicked things off Tuesday with a party at Brooklyn Commons.

There are a few festivals running this week and the AofBFF sets itself apart in that all of the films have a connection to the borough.  It may be an actor or director is from Brooklyn or the film shot in Brooklyn.

The core of the festival runs June 8th through June 12th with most of the screenings and panels at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights.  There are also screenings at Pratt in Clinton Hill and PS/IS 30 in Bay Ridge, so Art of Brooklyn incorporates different neighborhoods in its mission.

You can join the Guest Festival Director Eric Trenkamp as he talks with members of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting about film permitting in the city and why it is important.  Trenkamp is known for his feature film American Bomber.  This event is called "How To: Microbudget Filmmaking in NYC" and takes place Friday, June 10th at 2pm at St. Francis.

NYWIFT is involved in this year's festival by holding a roundtable discussion called "Women in Entertainment: Power Players Changing the Parity Game" today (Thursday) at 2pm at St. Francis.

There are more talks and plenty of films to check out through Sunday, June 12th.  Go to their website for details:  http://www.theartofbrooklyn.org
