40th Anniversary Party of Maysles' Grey Gardens

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the documentary Grey Gardens, there will be a party on Thursday, August 11th at the Parrish Art Museum out in the Hamptons.  Dubbed "Staunch: A Grey Gardens Party", it will include a costume contest and parade, a panel discussion, and excerpts from the film.

It is being produced by The Maysles Documentary Center, The Parrish Art Museum, and Hamptons International Film Festival.  The costume contest and parade begin the event.  Audience members participating can dress as "Big Edie" or "Little Edie" Beale.  Admission for those in costume is free.  The contest will be judged by Iris Apfel (subject of the Albert Maysles 2014 film) and Jerry "the Marble Faun" Torre.

The panel will consist of Iris Apfel, Michael Henry Adams, Jerry Torre, editor and producer of Grey Gardens Muffie Meyer, and Albert Maysles' daughter Sara Maysles.

Registration for the costume contest is at 5pm.  The parade and contest are at 5:30pm.  The conversation and film excerpts begin at 6pm.  Tickets for children is free; adults are $10.
