What does it mean to see the future?  To foresee?  To see?  Does blindness bequeath a special knowledge?  Does knowledge lead to blindness?  These are questions of the blind prophet Tiresias, who haunts the pages of literature from Homer to T.S. Eliot.  The Lives off Tiresias is a new theater piece which explores the competing myths surrounding the blind seer Tiresias.  The play traces the long life of the alleged seer from the time he was struck blind as punishment, through his tenure as unheard advisor to generations of Theban rulers, through his strange afterlife--which may still be going on.  Written by David Richman with Cecilia Rubino, the piece will be workshopped at Jefferson Market Library Playhouse this spring with a cast that will include Richman and five additional actors and/or musicians and will be directed by Cecilia Rubino.

All are welcome.
