Habaneros is the latest film executive produced by Vijaykumar Mirchandani. On Saturday, March 30th, the film screened to a packed house at the Zukor Theater at Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens. The short film was part of an afternoon mixed bag block curated by Don Cato of the Queens World Film Festival. There was a great crowd response to the reveal ending of the film. The short captures how a woman in today's social American climate selects the man she sees herself with in a relationship.
Habaneros is directed by Sri Mirajkar and was inspired by his attendance of the Women's March in 2016 in Washington D.C. The film was shot in Virginia.
Actress Nalini Mirajkar and Sri were in attendance for the screening along with Vijaykumar, Executive Producer of 16th Street Productions. All three participated with fellow filmmakers in an after screening Q&A.
