New Yorkers: You are invited to "A Conversation with Michael Barker", the Co-Founder and Co-President of Sony Pictures Classics. The evening will be moderated by Jason Kliot, award winning producer and IndieCollect board member. The invitation is for an "off the record" conversation. Join this conversation Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 6-8p.m. at the Manhattan home of Jason Kliot and Joana Vicente.

Michael Barker, with Co-President Tom Bernard through Sony Pictures Classics, has distributed films for 30 years. Over the years, their films have received 169 Academy Award (R) nominations. Together, they have backed 60 movies by women directors. Barker and Bernard were awarded The Women in Film Beacon Award from Women in Film Los Angeles to recognize the support of women filmmakers throughout their careers.

Barker currently serves as Co-Chairman on the Museum of Moving Image Board of Directors and the Entertainment Media and Technology Dean's Advisory Board at the NYU Stern School of Business. Previously, he served as an adjunct professor at the Columbia University School of the Arts Graduate Film Program and on the Visiting Committee to the Division of Humanities at the University of Chicago.

Jason Kliot has produced more than 40 narrative and documentary films. Producing partner and wife Joana Vicente and he produced the first digital movie shown at Sundance, Chuck and Buck, launching the career of Mike White. Kliot has worked with Soderbergh, De Palma, Labaki, Ginny and is recognized in Sundance, Cannes, and Venice festival circles.
