Festival of Cinema NYC will open August 2 at the Regal UA Midway in Forest Hills. (Take E or F trains to Forest Hills 71 Avenue) Festival goers will find over 120 films exhibited and recliner seats in the Forest Hills, Queens location. The opening night film is the east coast premiere of Camilo Vilas' 5th of July starring Jaleel White. The film made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. The evening also includes Nora Ephron Goes to Prison, a film about two women who bond over their shared appreciation for Nora Ephron while in prison.
The Queens Library Forest Hills Branch will be hosting 5 days of special screenings, presentations and workshops that are free and open to the public. The library is located at 108-19 71st Avenue. Also during the festival, look for special presentations from the NYC Indie Film Collective Filmmaking Challenge, Arte East, and the Asian American Film Lab.
The East Coast premiere of Quest by director Santiago Rizzo will feature Lou Diamond Phillips, Dash Mihok and Betsy Brandt as the closing night film.
