Screening of Two American Audiences at Macaulay

(released 12/10/2019)

TWO AMERICAN AUDIENCES, a rarely seen 1968 film made by D.A. Pennybaker and New York Film and Video Council member Mark Woodcock, will be presented in collaboration with CUNY's Macaulay Honors College. The evening of December 17th is billed as a celebration of D.A. Pennybaker and the 89th Birthday of Jean Luc Godard.

In the spring of 1968, Godard traveled to America to promote La Chinoise that was distributed by Leacock-Pennybaker and to make 1PM (originally 1AM) with Penny and Ricky. Godard spoke to NYU students about his cinematic ideas and that was filmed and Mark Woodcock turned it into TWO AMERICAN AUDIENCES. The film, 40 minutes long, will be paired with Godard's longer A MOVIE LIKE ANY OTHER.

The free and open to all screening will be held at the Macaulay Honors College located at 35 W. 67th Street with a reception at 6:30p.m. and films starting at 7p.m.
